VLAN Rules Defaults
IEEE Standards Supported 802.1Q–Virtual Bridged Local Area Networks
802.1v–VLAN Classification by Protocol and Port
802.1D–Media Access Control Bridges
Maximum number of VLANs per switch 4094 (based on switch configuration and available
resources)
Maximum number of rules per VLAN Unlimited
Maximum number of rules per switch 8129 of each rule type, except for a DHCP generic
rule because only one is allowed per switch.
Switch ports eligible for VLAN rule classifi-
cation (dynamic VLAN assignment)
Mobile 10/100 Ethernet and gigabit ports.
Switch ports not eligible for VLAN rule
classification
Non-mobile (fixed) ports.
Uplink/stack ports.
10 gigabit ports.
802.1Q tagged fixed ports.
Link aggregate ports.
